About KEY TO THE CURE

Since 1999 Saks Fifth Avenue has donated more than
$27 million to fight women’s cancers.

•    Saks Fifth Avenue’s KEY TO THE CURE (KTTC) initiative is an annual nationwide, charity shopping weekend during which a percentage of sales is donated to local and national and women’s cancer centers.

•    From 1999-2002 Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a partnership between Saks Fifth Avenue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), raised more than $9 million for breast cancer research across the country.

•    In 2003, Saks Fifth Avenue built upon the success of its four-year program and expanded its focus to support all women’s cancers including breast, cervical, ovarian and uterine.

•    In 2003, Saks Fifth Avenue announced its partnership with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), Hollywood’s philanthropic arm. This partnership launched Saks Fifth Avenue’s new fundraising initiative, KEY TO THE CURE.

•    Some of the organizations benefiting from these funds include EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Boston’s Dana Farber Cancer Institute; the Cleveland Clinic and many others.

•    Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is the ambassador of this year’s campaign. Past spokespersons have included Renée Zellweger, Glenn Close, Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Iman, Amber Valetta, and supermodel Gisele.

•    As the national sponsor of Saks Fifth Avenue’s annual charitable initiative since 2001, Mercedes-Benz USA generously underwrites the kick off parties and the shopping weekends at Saks Fifth Avenue stores nationwide. To date Mercedes-Benz has contributed over $7 million.   Additionally, Mercedes-Benz makes an annual $1 million donation to KEY TO THE CURE through the sale of 1,000 Special Edition vehicles.

•    Karl Lagerfeld designed the 2008 limited edition t-shirt exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue’s KEY TO THE CURE. The t-shirt retails for $40, with $35 of the sales of each shirt benefiting EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund. Since 2003, Saks has donated more than $3 million to EIF’s WCRF from the t-shirt alone.

The KEY TO THE CURE tee shirts and Public Service Announcements will be featured in local and national press in the coming weeks. Look for it in your favorite magazine soon!
